"...as
newborn babes desire the sincere milk of the Word, that they
may grow thereby"
Description: A
team of ladies (usually Fran Aldridge, Carol Davenport, Connie
Farmer, Janice Sanders, Linda Trippe, and myself) go out to speak
to the girls at the Detention Center. We conduct weekly Bible
studies in four different dorms for 5 weeks, after the girls
have seen the play,"Watch the Lamb" the week before.
The goal of
this ministry is evangelism and basic grounding. We present the
gospel every week, and try to share basic doctrines of the Word
such as eternal security, walking in the Holy Spirit, and other
milk doctrines of the Word. In addition, we are there to be an
encouragement to them, and present their life in Christ, and
CHRIST as the answer to their every need.
The girls are
from ages 13-19, and are from all over the state of Alabama.
God's workings: We
always see some girls come to know Christ as their Savior, and
see many encouraged by their time in the Word. Our emphasis is
God's grace and truth. The Father is always faithful to set up
many providential conversations and situations.
Our Needs: Bibles
for the girls are a need. Many times in the past other churches
and organizations have supplied the girls with a youth friendly
Bible(i.e. the teen Bible, for instance). This was not the case
this time. It would be wonderful to have this available for them.
PRAYER: The
nights, when we go out there your prayers are always coveted.
There are so many distractions, that come into play during our
time there. Please join in this ministry, with us and pray that
the distractions would be limited. That these young souls would
be open to the Word of Hope, that can only be found in the Person
and Work of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
If you are interested
in being a part of this ministry, come, observe, and be a prayer
