The name of this Outreach program is "New Direction." It is focused on the belief that these kids, being in a maximum security boy's detention center, are at a point in their lives where they need to take a serious look at themselves and determine if there are changes that need to be made.

This ministry first gives them the opportunity to make a change in their eternal destiny by believing in the Good News about the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 15:3-4; Acts 16:31). We then seek to instill in them the basic truths about their salvation, so they can grow spiritually upon this solid foundation (1 Cor. 3:11; 1 Pet 2:2; 2 Pet 3:18).

We meet on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Sundays of every month. We're in a very good position of ministry because we're in the orientation building. We get these young men fresh off the streets, out of jail and the courts, so that Truth is one of the first things they face when they come to Vacca.

Your prayers are needed! These children are abused and neglected, drug users and dealers, murderers and thieves. They have not the slightest idea of what love is, and they hear nothing good, only what stupid idiots they are and that they are the type of people this world could do without, and if they don't shape up they will go to hell.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

1. Pray that the seed of the Word would bear much fruit in the lives of these kids because when they leave our building they go to other buildings where they are bombarded with the religions like Islam, Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons. These preachers try to scare them into behaving, when they leave by threatening them with Hell.

2. Pray that the Word of God would also influence the counselors in charge of these kids, to enable us to better minister to these kids.

3. Pray that the Gospel would go out clearly and accurately in grace and in truth and that God would be glorified through His Son, Jesus Christ.
