In a devotional to start this the year of 2007 off, Pastor David
Jeremiah wrote, "This is the year that the Lord has made! We will
rejoice and be glad in it."
That actually is a take-off on one of my favorite verses in the Bible ..... "This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be
glad in it." - Psalm 118:24
I love that verse! And it is a great verse to pass on to someone who
is celebrating a special day ... a birthday, a wedding, a new baby, an
anniversary .... life itself! But when I read how Dr. Jeremiah used it
- this is the year that the Lord has made - it made me be glad in it
even more. ... the year that the Lord has made. And what does each
and every year start with? .... and how does each and every month begin?
.... and each week that makes up each and every month of each and every
year? .... a day, you say? A day, indeed! And what should our day
start with at the very beginning? God! Our God!
Acrostic:
D - DAWN ... of a new day!
Lamentations 3:22-23 "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is
Your faithfulness."
A - ALL ... the day long!
Psalm 25:4-5 "Make me know Thy ways, O Lord; teach me Thy paths.
Lead me in Thy truth and teach me. For Thou art the God of my
salvation; for Thee I wait all the day."
Y - YAWN ... big at the end that day!
Psalm 63:1-7 "O God, Thou art my God; I shall seek Thee earnestly; my
soul thirsts for Thee, my flesh yearns for Thee, in a dry and weary land
where there is no water. Thus I have beheld Thee in the sanctuary, to
see Thy power and Thy glory. Because Thy loving kindness is better than
life, my lips praise Thee. So I will bless Thee as long as I live; I
will lift up my hands in Thy name. My soul is satisfied as with marrow
and fatness, and my mouth offers praises with joyful lips. When I
remember Thee on my bed, I meditate on Thee in the night watches, for
Thou hast been my help, and in the shadow of Thy wings I sing for joy."
DAY! A new day, and from beginning to end, may we remember that .... This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad
in it!
By the way, did you receive your gift?
I love the principle:
"Our Father put 'everything' He had (on) under a tree - just for you!"
