Camp!

..That's where the kids from my church - including my Abbey - were just a week ago. ... at the SEYC "Teen" Camp! ... and that's where my husband also will be in a couple of weeks as a counselor. ... at the SEYC "Junior" Camp! They're all campin' with Christ and roughin' it with Jesus. Well, I don't know how "rough" it really is for them because I am sure it is like being at the Holiday Inn compared to when I used to go to camp. Still, they did climb the mountain and hike through nature looking for all of God's creatures. When I went to camp, we were afraid we'd just wake up in the middle of the night to one of those very creatures face-to-face, nose-to-nose and eyeball-to-eyeball. The kids at Teen Camp actually went to the camp I used to go to when I was a young "GA" (Girl's Auxiliary ... Baptist) at church, but it has changed so much ... so very much! We had cabins ... they have something like dorms. We had lunchroom food ... they have men and women from our church cooking for them! (... for which I am sure they are very thankful!). But, I have many wonderful memories of going to camp, and as strange as it may seem, one of my favorite memories is drinking coffee at breakfast. Now, I grew up on coffee (you know a little coffee with my cream and sugar), but one particular year I was introduced to Coffee Mate in my cup, and it was simply delicious! Man, I thought I was all grown up! I loved it, and to this day, if I want to give myself a little treat, I pour a little Coffee Mate in my cup! Even with all the flavors we can choose from today, that is still the treat for me...it is still delicious! Anyway --- we had a very, very old swimming hole they called a pool complete with green water ... they have a modern clear blue-water pool complete with diving board! I believe the lake is probably the same. And then there's the mountain! THE mountain! GOD's mountain! And I do believe in those younger years I thought that that mountain was His special place and that He sometimes just must live up there. I climbed it - they climbed it! What an experience! ...and that, in fact, is and definitely will remain the same! It's where we learned further how to walk the walk and talk the talk. The Jesus walk and the Jesus talk, that is ...

Acrostic:

C - CHRIST! JESUS! It's all about Him ... the Name above all names.

Acts 4:12 - "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved." [*and don't miss - I repeat - DO NOT MISS that important point!...only through Jesus and belief in His precious Gospel -- that God the Father - because of His great love for US and through His marvelous grace - sent His only Son Jesus Christ (John 3:16) to die on a cross for OUR sins, that He -- Jesus-- would be buried and raised on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) - and that is the only way - through God's Grace and that Gospel of Jesus Christ - we can be saved - (Ephesians 2:4-9). ... Amen!!]

Philippians 2:9-11 - "Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

A - ALMIGHTY! GOD! It's all about Him ... the Beginning and the End.

Deuteronomy 4:35 - "To you it was shown that you might know that the Lord, He is God; there is no other besides Him."

Isaiah 43:10 - " 'You are My witnesses,' declares the Lord, 'and my servant whom I have chosen, in order that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He, before Me there was no God formed, and there will be none after Me.' " (See also Hebrews 12:1-2)

Revelation 1:8 - " 'I am the Alpha and the Omega,' says the Lord God, 'who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

M - MIRACULOUS! GOD the FATHER, GOD the SON, and GOD the HOLY SPIRIT!

It's all about Them ... the Three-in-One - the Trinity - the Godhead ... the Holy, Holy, Holy!

Psalm 111:2-4 - "Great are the works of the Lord; they are studied by all who delight in them. Splendid and majestic is His work; and His righteousness endures forever. He has made His wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate." (See also Psalm 8:3-4 and Psalm 19:1).

Isaiah 66:2a - " 'For My hand made all these things, thus all these things came into being,' declares the Lord. ..."

Revelation 15:3b - "...Great and marvelous are Thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are Thy ways, Thou King of the Nations."

P - POWER! GOD's! It's all about His! ... the Rock - the Refuge - the Raiser of the Dead!

Psalm 62:5-7 - "My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be shaken. On God my salvation and my glory rest; the rock of my strength, my refuge is in God." (See also Psalm 91:1-2 and 14-16 and Psalm 103:1-14)

Ephesians 1:17-20 - "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places." ... NOW that, my friend, is POWER!

CAMP! Sounds to me like we need to set it up with and in and through Him because His ground is solid! ...and I am reminded once again of the chorus to that old familiar hymn ....

ON CHRIST THE SOLID ROCK I STAND
ALL OTHER GROUND IS SINKING SAND,
ALL OTHER GROUND IS SINKING SAND!

Happy camping!

Amen? AMEN!

Kelli
