Away In A Manger

And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."Luke 2:7

Away in a manger,
no crib for His bed,
The little Lord Jesus
lay down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky
looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus,
asleep on the hay.

Acrostic:

S - SCRIPTURE ... fulfilled!

Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign:  Behold a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel."

Matthew 1:22-23 "Now all this took place that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, 'Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,' which translated means 'God with us.' "

T - TIME .... to come!

Luke 1:26-35, 38 "Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.  And coming in, he said to her, 'Hail, favored one!  The Lord is with you.'  But she was greatly troubled at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this might be.  And the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.  And behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.  He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and His kingdom will have no end.'  And Mary said to the angel, 'How can this be, since I am a virgin?'  And the angel answered and said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God.' " ... "And Mary said, 'Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; be it done to me according to your word.'  And the angel departed from her."

A - ANNOUNCEMENTS ... Tidings of Great Joy!

Luke 2:8-11 "And in the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields, and keeping watch over their flock by night.  And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.  And the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.' "

B - BABY BOY ... welcome to this world!

Matthew 1:18-21, 24-25 "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows.  When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.  And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her, desired to put her away secretly.  But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying 'Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.   And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.' " ... "And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took her as his wife, and kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus."

L - LOVE ... came down and walked among us!

John 1:1-3, 14 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things came into being by Him; and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being." ... "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.  For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through Him."

E - EVERMORE ... His Kingdom shall be!

Isaiah 9:6-7 "For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.  There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore.  The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this."

STABLE ... a manger ...

because there was no room for them in the inn.

Yet, have we ourselves made room and let Him ... in?

Let the Stable Still Astonish
by Leslie Leyland Fields

Let the stable still astonish:
Straw-dirt floor, dull eyes,
Dusty flanks of donkeys, oxen;
Crumbling, crooked walls;
No bed to carry that pain,
And then, the child,
Rag-wrapped, laid to cry
In a trough.

Who would have chosen this?
Who would have said:  "Yes,
Let the God of all the heavens and earth be born here,
in this place." ?
Who but the same God
Who stands in the darker, fouler rooms of our hearts
and says, "Yes, let the God of heaven and earth be born here -
in this place.
"

Merry Christmas

and

Praying many more blessings your way!

Kelli
