Leaving our 'mark' in Kandahar!
Our last full day in Afghanistan, as impressive
as the previous fourteen but with a final touch! Our two presentations
that day, the first right after breakfast and right outside of the mess
hall was great, especially concluding with all of the troops standing
in appreciation. The second and final encounter was especially personal,
our standing before our home town troops. What can I say, the connection
was palatable with emotions unbridled - God getting all of the Glory!
Following the two sessions we were invited
to participate in 'the walk', visiting and shaking the hands of the
command leadership and that of the support units. One might think we
were some kind of dignitaries the response was so open and professional!
As we were exiting one of the final command
centers we encountered a work crew of US troops and Afghani laborers
preparing the footing around the base of the soon to be monument to
the Afghani troops who gave their lives for their nation's freedom.
Gary, passing out his 'coins' to anyone and everyone he met provided
two to one of our troops who then 'set' them in the concrete at the
base of the monument - we left our mark for all to see the real source
of personal freedom, Jesus Christ!
