Flight from Bagram to Camp Phoenix
Transported via a Blackhawk
(helicopter) to this Fire Base outside of Kabul, Afghanistan. Short
trim, about 25 minutes but exciting to say the least. Everyone had a
headset on, 2 pilots, 2 gunners as well as ourselves enabling all of
us to converse with each other during the flight. It was impressive
as the crew educated us on the progress our forces had made as we flew
over the various sites. It's so hard to imagine how these nomadic people
( desert people) exist in this waste land but seeing it up close blows
my mind! They have absolutely nothing yet they continue to cling to
life, it's beyond comprehension.
Camp Phoenix
Once again we found ourselves
at proper location, but at a time which had been rescheduled with little
to no publication being done. Even though the crowd was small, about
15 they were all so very appreciative of our coming and of Gary's message.
Just another reminder that it's not our Plan that's unfolding here in
this land but rather that of our Heavenly Father's - and it's Perfect!
Kabul
Central Command Head Quarter's of Afghanistan
Transported from Camp Phoenix
to HQ and back again by convoy, two civilian
heavily armed SUVs. Both vehicles, sticking bumper to bumper so that
nothing could get in between us flew through Kabul city at 60+ mph!
No traffic lights, cars and 'gingle-trucks' all over the roads and people
attempting to cross in between! What a ride!!
We found HQ to be quite different compared
to the other bases we've seen, gardens, plush living quarters, swimming
pools, etc., all very heavily guarded. Once again our presentation was
to a small group, approximately 35 but understand, this is the leadership
of our joint forces and the reception was very positive. Wonder what
God is going to use Gary's message in these hearts?
Bagram, 7:30PM
Upon our arrival back to our
home base in Bagram we presented our message to the Air Force. This
opportunity was unique onto itself, we were set up in their req room,
a large tent with couches, lounge chairs, etc. spread all around. As
the troops wandered in, not having any idea that we were coming (getting
accustom to that mode) eventually filled up the place! They were so
relaxed and we not having any time restraint to deal with the two hours
that followed flew by! Gary was right on target spending more than half
of the time on Spiritual issues and clearly presenting the gospel. Once
again the response was so very positive. One of the connections made
was with an Air Force officer who knew of missionaries working with
the Afghani people. Here was the contact that we've been praying for
to transfer all of the coins that have been so graciously provided -
which have been printed in the local languages, Thank You Father.
