Salerno, Afghanistan
Sunday Morning Service, 9:30AM
Local time
Once again, the local Body of
Christ stationed here in Salerno gathered together for Sunday morning
worship. We had the whole hour and fifteen minutes within which Pete
expressed his gratitude to his heavenly Father and to the troops there,
I expressing much the same thoughts along with giving my personal testimony,
getting 'saved' 40 yrs ago in Viet Nam and Gary teaching the Word. It
was so good to fellowship with these Believers right here in the desert
of Afghanistan. Make sure to check out some of the pictures that I took.
4th of July Presentation, 6:30PM
Local time
Approximately five hundred troops
gathered outside on the basketball court and surrounding walls to hear
a special presentation of the '13 folds of the flag'. Aram graciously
provided a full (large) American flag, one that he says "he's had
been carrying around for several years wondering what to do with"
to their drill team to formally fold before the 501st. As each fold
was performed, very professionally I might add Gary would explain it's
individual significance and meaning, the entire crowd was entranced
with the presentation, very moving! Upon completion of the folding of
the flag, unbeknown to myself the flag was officially presented to me
personally and to all those who so honorably gave their lives for Freedom's
sake in Viet Nam. I was so surprised, honored, moved to a new emotional
height and awestruck that I couldn't say a word! Quite frankly, I didn't
have any breath left in me to utter it if I did have anything to say!
What enormous moments our Father has in store for us, I ask myself the
question "who would want to 'Walk' any other path?".
