CPT Aram Donigian grew up on a ranch 9 miles outside of Elgin, Oregon. In 1993, he gave up an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point to fulfill a commitment to serve as the Oregon FFA State President. Having seen a video of Ranger Horton speaking, Aram wrote to Gary and invited him to be the keynote speaker to over 1500 FFA members at the annual state convention in March 1994. This invitation would open the door for Gary to speak at many Oregon schools in the following years. Having reapplied and been reaccepted into West Point, Aram entered the academy in the summer of ’94. He graduated 10th in his class in 1998 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry. He then went through and graduated from various training courses, to include Ranger and Airborne. He spent three years at Fort Irwin, California, before being assigned to Task Force 1-501st Parachute Infantry Regiment at Fort Richardson, Alaska, in March 2003. The first airborne battalion in the Army and the only arctic airborne unit today, the “Geronimos” deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in October 2003. His current job as the Task Force Adjutant has allowed Aram to make contact with those people who could get Ranger Horton into country to speak. Aram knows that God will use Gary’s message to impact lives and help those fighting for our nation’s freedom stay the course and complete the mission. He asks that those who know of Gary’s trip to Afghanistan will pray for his safety and for the ability for God to work through him and speak to the thousands of soldiers and civilians who will hear him. |
